May be you have a little free disk space,for windows xp you need at least 20% of free disk space in your disk partition containing Windows files for proper working of your system,either free up some disk space thru 'Disk cleanup' utility or install your any new program to another partition of your hard disk.
If it still can't solve your problem then you have to upgrade your processor and RAM to more higher speed and capacity (I think you are conscious enough about other maintanance like reguler scheduled virus scan,defragmenting ,resistry clean up or fixing ,optimising system etc, So i would't go to that details of those).
If i install any new programme(e.g Yahoo messenger,Gtalk) my computer gets slow.Then what should i do?
Increase the your RAM. Or virus check for your system.
Reply:this means that either the hard disk, or the memory of the computer don't have enough capacity to support the programmes. you should try deleting the files you do not need on the computer to have more space on it. but the best idea would be to buy some new memory and an addition to the hard disk.
