Can you use gtalk with aim (desktop version)?

hello everyone,


I just got into all of google's free programs/apps. I use gtalk through gmail, and I talk to aim people. I like gtalk a lot so i figured id dl the desktop version. My problem is that i can't find out how to get it to sign into aim. Im starting to think that you can only talk to aim people with the web-based gtalk and not the desktop one... is this the case?

google pidgin - it allows you to use googletalk and AIM and others such as msn, yahoo and others plus IRCs too
