My friend made a fake id on gmail as sum1 else and sent a mail to someone ..she is worried that can this gmail be tracked? can they find out where that mail come from if its from Gmail? I heard gmail is protected and that they can't...Please let me know??

It all depends on what information she leaked out.
Let's say she sent nude photos of *herself* and said 'this is me (name)' then she could get in trouble, as in Gmail will take care of the situation.
That is identity fraud by the way.
